The next few photos are nothing to do with Joseph Rock, but I have added them because they come from the same era and make a good point of comparison to his own photos. They were taken by the explorer Spencer Chapman, who was aprt of the British MIssion to Tibet in 1936. He wroe about his trip in a book, "Lhasa, the Holy City" and that is where I have scanned these photos from.
