This is the nearest town to Muli monastery. It sits on a spur, up a side valley of the Litang river canyon. The mountain ridge in the background is the one you cross over when coming from Yongning. It is about 4200 metres.

Thanks. It's weird because the blog format makes the narrative appear backwards in respect to the way I did the treks.
And I'm running out of old photos to put up as comparisons. Hopefull there'll be some more soon in a new [old] National Geographic I just bought from 1931.
